PEYTO LAKE
Peyto Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in the province of Alberta, very close in beauty to Emerald Lake in the Yukon. Both have beautiful watercolors and surroundings, and both are of glacial origin. Peyto Lake is located along the Icefields Parkway in the Rocky Mountains and belongs to Banff National Park. The lake was named after Bill Peyto, one of the earliest explorers of hiking trails and trappers in the Banff region. Peyto Lake has an area of 140 hectares, is 90 m deep, and is rich in fish: brook trout and camel catfish. It is at an altitude of 1860 m and is 2.8 km long. The color of its water is exceptionally blue, reflecting the peaks of the surrounding mountains. The water in the lake is very cold and swimming in it is not recommended without thermal equipment.
LAKE ATHABASCA
Lake Athabasca is located between the provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan, in the north between the 58th and 60th parallels, 30% in Alberta and 70% in Saskatchewan. Its area is 7,850 km2. Next to Lake Athabasca is the town of Uranium City. This lake is very important for Canada in ecological terms. It is rich in fish: goldeye, lake trout, northern pike, walleye and yellow perch. The Athabasca River, Peace River and Fond de la Lac River flow into Lake Athabasca, and the Peace River, Slave River and Riviera de Rochers flow out of it. It is 120 to 124 m deep, 283 m long, and a maximum width of 50 km. The surface area of Lake Athabasca is 335 x 51 km, which is 7,850 km2. It has a total water volume of about 204 km3. Lake Athabasca is important to Canada for the uranium deposits in its vicinity.
MALIGNE LAKE
Maligne Lake is located in Jasper National Park, Alberta. This lake is famous for its azure water color, and as it is surrounded by mountain peaks, they are reflected in the lake water and make the lake even more beautiful. The lake is therefore known as the mountain mirror. Visitors take a lot of photos of it. It is a glacial lake. It is the largest lake in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, measuring 22.5 km long and covering an area of 19.71 km2. Its maximum depth is 97 m. The fish in Malignant Lake are: Rainbow trout and Brook trout. It is located at an elevation of 1670 m. It is famous for its Lake Pole pine and spruce and is known as a home for moose. The glacial water temperatures allow only the most experienced swimmers to swim in it.
