LAKE WINNIPEG
Lake Winnipeg is the sixth largest freshwater lake in Canada. It is relatively shallow, only 12 m deep. It is located in the province of Manitoba, not far from the city of Winnipeg. Kathie McIntosh was the first to swim across Lake Winnipeg on August 19, 1955. She swam for 16 hours and 42 minutes.
The size of Lake Winnipeg is 23,750 km2. Another estimate shows the size of the lake to be 24,544 km2. It is located at an altitude of 217 m. It is 416 km long and 100 km wide. Its volume is estimated to be 284 km3. The Red River, Winnipeg River, and Saskatchewan Rivers flow into Lake Winnipeg, and the Nelson River flows out of the lake.
LAKE MANITOBA
Lake Manitoba is located near Lake Winnipeg and the city of Winnipeg, in the province of Manitoba. It is the fourteenth largest lake in Canada and the 33rd largest in the world, with a total area of 4,624 km2. It is 200 km long and 45 km wide. The Vitamede River and Waterheim River flow into Lake Manitoba, and the Dope Finn River and Fairford River flow out of it. Lake Manitoba is rich in fish: Sauger, Walleye, Common carp, Yellow perch, and Coregonus artedi. The length of the shoreline of Lake Manitoba is 915 km. The lake is suitable for swimming.
MEDICINE LAKE
Medicine Lake is located in Jasper National Park, Alberta. It is about 7 km long and relatively shallow. Its surface area is 119.9 hectares. It is glacial in nature. This lake is considered excellent for swimming, boating and fishing. Indigenous peoples perceive it as a spiritual lake and hold their ceremonies and recreation there every year. The color of the water in the lake is blue-green. The average depth of Medicine Lake is 7.3 m, and the maximum is 46.4 m. The total volume of water in this lake is estimated to be 13,400,000 m3. It has good fish: Northern Pike, Yellow Perch and White Sucker.
